Lead a meaningful dialogue centered on Scripture, and watch God’s Word change lives, including your own.
As a BLG Leader, your role is to facilitate a meaningful dialogue centered on Scripture, in an online "zoom-like" setting, while fostering an atmosphere of trust, encouragement, and spiritual growth. Here are key aspects of effective group leadership:
Begin each session with prayer, acknowledging God’s plan for your time together. Welcome new participants and set a tone of warmth and inclusivity.
Use affirming language to acknowledge contributions. If there is silence, be patient and allow time for reflection. Call on participants gently to foster engagement.
Guide discussions to stay centered on the Scripture passage. Redirect conversations when necessary, ensuring the group remains focused on the Scripture.
Encourage participants to consider how they can apply the Scripture to their lives. During follow-up sessions, revisit previous discussions to check in on their progress.
Share your own struggles and victories to demonstrate authenticity. This helps create a culture of openness and trust within the group.
The BLG Process centers on simplicity and accessibility, making it easy for everyone to participate and engage with Scripture. Each session follows a straightforward format:
A passage of 5-9 verses is selected for the group to focus on during the session.
Leaders and participants will read the passage aloud for everyone to hear. Then ask the following questions to help participants delve deeper into the meaning of the Scripture and its application to their lives.
These questions create a structured yet open-ended discussion, encouraging participants to reflect on God’s Word and share insights in a safe and supportive environment.
To maintain a positive and impactful experience, group meetings will follow these essential guidelines:

As a leader, you have the unique opportunity to foster meaningful conversations, nurture spiritual growth, and make a lasting impact on those seeking to know Christ better.
Many people in today’s world are searching for community and purpose. In the U.S., countless individuals who have left the church or have never been part of a Christian community turn to online spaces for connection. Social media often falls short, leaving them feeling isolated or unfulfilled. BLGs fill this void by offering authentic, Scripture-centered fellowship in an online method at a time that works for them.
For Christians, even those who have been believers for years, a deeper engagement with the Bible is often needed to mature in faith. God has commanded us to go and make disciples. Leading a Bible Listening Group is making disciples! The process of consistent Scripture engagement and facilitating group discussions fosters your personal spiritual growth and strengthens your leadership skills.
As a BLG leader, you’ll witness life-changing moments as participants encounter God’s Word, understand its meaning, and apply it to their lives. Your role will help bring light and hope into their lives, encouraging them to become disciples that will impact their world for Christ.
